When seventeen-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she’d pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up…until he opened his mouth. Daemon Black is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. It’s hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. The hot guy next door? Well, he’s an alien. Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.
Something worse than the Arum has come to town…
The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…
In other news:
I want to move. So bad. Virginia officially has the freakiest weather ever. I feel like I was up half the night because the thunder was so loud. And yesterday we even had like, 3 flood warnings, and a tornado warning. A tornado warning! In Virginia!
Then this morning the sun's shining on the way to my aunt's house. Suddenly it get's really dark. And I'm like, "Whaaaaaaat? Where'd the sun go?"It was there and then it just wasn't. Here's a pic, it looked darker in real life though.
I heard the storm and it woke me up last night. It lights up the whole sky when there's lightning. Scary. Ohio has had a ton of thunderstorms lately though.
ReplyDeleteI've never known of Virginia to have so many thunderstorms. A lot of the storms have been beyond any storm I've ever known and the wind has been terrible! A lady a couple houses from me had a tree fall into her house so now I'm scared that my neighbor's tree is going to fall into my bedroom. If it does I might just have the first temper tantrum of my life. Haha.
